Mina NFT Standard and Token Launchpad Enter Mainnet Beta

Community builder DFST delivers key infrastructure for the ecosystem

DFST has successfully delivered two key pieces of infrastructure for the Mina ecosystem: a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) Standard and the Mina Tokens Launchpad. These developments mark a step forward in expanding opportunities for Mina builders, creators, and traders alike.

Mina NFT Standard

The NFT standard for Mina Protocol aims to simplify NFT creation and interaction while addressing limitations of existing standards like ERC721. Building on existing Mina NFT contracts already deployed on mainnet, this standard leverages Mina’s zero-knowledge capabilities to enable both on-chain and off-chain verification of NFT data, supporting enhanced privacy features and verifiable proofs for both public and private content. The design separates core NFT functionality from custom administrative actions through dedicated admin contracts, maintaining standardization while allowing flexibility.

This approach was chosen because of Mina’s off-chain execution model where applications need access to contract code. By providing a standard implementation for NFT creation and management, Mina enables seamless interoperability while expanding NFT utility beyond digital art into domains like identity, secure document sharing, Real World Assets (RWAs), gaming, communities, governance, and more! This reduces complexity for developers while ensuring that all NFT-based applications can work together, ultimately enhancing the user experience across the ecosystem.

Key Features

  • Flexible minting mechanisms for creators and authorized users
  • Ownership transfers with optional admin approval and support for signature or proof-based methods
  • Built-in marketplace functionality with royalty fee enforcement
  • Metadata updates using zero-knowledge proofs
  • Collection and individual NFT pause/resume capabilities
  • Contract upgrade paths for verification keys
  • Controls for compliance and policy enforcement
  • Configurable parameters for mint limitations

Veridise Security Audit

Before its release, the Mina NFT Standard underwent a security audit by Veridise, an industry-leading security audit company specializing in Formal Methods. The audit covered the smart contract implementation of the core NFT contracts, as well as several default implementations of extension contracts. All security-relevant issues identified as critical, high, medium, and low severity have been addressed. See the full report and findings here.

Mina Token Launchpad

Alongside the NFT Standard, DFST has released MinaTokens, a no-code custom token launchpad that simplifies the creation and management of custom fungible tokens on Mina. This platform makes it much easier to launch standard tokens and memecoins on Mina, with no coding experience required.

Key Features

  • Launch custom tokens with configurable parameters through an intuitive interface
  • Mint, transfer, and manage token distributions with ease
  • Perform batch mints and transfers for airdrops and other token distribution events
  • Automated transaction building and proving for a seamless user experience
  • Track token statistics and transaction status through a comprehensive dashboard

Note: While MinaTokens is open for experimentation, there are forthcoming updates to the fungible token standard that will impact the token launchpad. Also, as discussed in a recent Community Call, DeFi on Mina will initially be limited and slow until L1 performance bottlenecks are addressed.

Get Started Today

The Mina NFT Standard is now ready to explore and implement. Developers can dive into the docs and github repo to experiment with the standard and start building NFTs on Mina. There is also MinaNFT, an NFT marketplace created by DFST. Join the Mina developer community on Discord to share your projects, get support, and collaborate with other innovators in the space.

About Mina Protocol

Mina is the world’s lightest blockchain, powered by participants. Rather than apply brute computing force, Mina uses advanced cryptography and recursive zk-SNARKs to design an entire blockchain that is about 22kb, the size of a couple of tweets. It is the first layer-1 to enable efficient implementation and easy programmability of zero knowledge smart contracts (zkApps). With its unique privacy features and ability to connect to any website, Mina is building a private gateway between the real world and crypto—and the secure, democratic future we all deserve.
