Learn how to set up a wallet, get MINA tokens, and start using applications on the Mina network.
To use Mina applications and participate in the network, you’ll need MINA tokens and a wallet to store them.
MINA is the native token of the Mina Protocol network. You’ll need it to interact with zkApps (zero knowledge applications), send transactions, and participate in network activities.
Getting started requires three steps.
A wallet is your tool for storing MINA tokens and connecting to applications on the Mina network.
Mobile app and browser extension wallet supporting zkApp transactions.
Desktop and web wallet for storing, sending, and receiving MINA.
Hardware wallet for maximum security and cold storage.
Protect your seed phrase: When you create a wallet, you’ll receive a seed phrase (12-24 words). Write it down and store it safely—this is your only way to recover your wallet. Never share it with anyone.
After purchasing MINA on an exchange, you’ll want to transfer it to your personal wallet where you have full control and can use it with Mina applications.
One-Time Setup Fee: The Mina network charges a one-time fee of 1 MINA when your account is first created. This fee is automatically deducted from your first incoming transaction to prevent spam.
When you delegate or stake your MINA tokens, you help secure the Mina network and may receive rewards distributed by validators.
Typical rewards have historically averaged around 7% APY, but actual returns vary depending on network conditions, validator performance, and other factors. There is no minimum amount required, and you can usually un-delegate at any time. Rewards are not guaranteed and may change.
Never share your seed phrase or private keys with anyone. Official Mina team members will never DM you first or ask for sensitive information. For your safety, we recommend doing your own research on best practices for securing your MINA and staying alert to common crypto scams.
