Custom Tokens Now Supported on Auro Wallet

Auro’s browser extension has undergone an external security audit from OtterSec following the release of the Mina Fungible Token Standard.

The Auro browser wallet now seamlessly integrates custom token support, allowing users to view balances, send/receive tokens, and track transaction history for custom tokens on Mina. This streamlined experience empowers users to manage their digital assets all in one place.

Developers building applications on Mina can also integrate support for custom tokens. By leveraging Mina’s fungible token standard, these apps can enable users to transact with a variety of digital assets.

The addition of custom token support in Auro represents an important milestone for the Mina community. This feature gives users and developers new capabilities to use and integrate unique digital assets, unlocking more complex use cases and driving greater participation in the Mina ecosystem.

OtterSec, a leading cybersecurity firm specializing in blockchain security, recently concluded an updated security audit of Auro wallet’s browser extension. This audit came after the Berkeley Upgrade, which introduced zkApps and other key features to Mina mainnet, and the release of the Mina Fungible Token Standard. For the audit, OtterSec performed research, investigation, and review of Auro’s browser extension followed by issue reporting and providing remediation instructions.

The audit of Auro identified three vulnerabilities, which have all been resolved, and five general findings. See the full report and findings here

Mina Foundation highly values the security and robustness of Mina Protocol and its ecosystem partners.

About Mina Protocol

Mina is the world’s lightest blockchain, powered by participants. Rather than apply brute computing force, Mina uses advanced cryptography and recursive zk-SNARKs to design an entire blockchain that is about 22kb, the size of a couple of tweets. It is the first layer-1 to enable efficient implementation and easy programmability of zero knowledge smart contracts (zkApps). With its unique privacy features and ability to connect to any website, Mina is building a private gateway between the real world and crypto—and the secure, democratic future we all deserve.

Results and learnings from the first MEF tests
Summary  The previous blogpost proposed a community-led Mina Ecosystem Funding (MEF) process to support longer term, decentralized and sustainable funding for teams providing ongoing services to Mina Protocol.  In Q4 2024, Mina Foundation ran a test of an initial governance process and tooling for MEF with a small group of community members. This blogpost explains […]
