Mina Protocol Prism Token Grants

Mina has introduced the Prism Token Grants, a new grant program that doubles its grantee base to around 1,200 grantees.

Prism Token Grants

Mina is powered by participants. The community is large, has many different skills and talents, and collaborated in recent years to become one of the most robust and prominent communities in crypto. The Mina Foundation acknowledges the members who built along with the core team when the project was still in its early stages and is excited to announce a new grants program, Prism. Prism Contributing Members (PCM) who are devoted to the project and made significant contributions in the last years but did not receive a grant are eligible to become grantees. With this program, Mina will be doubling its grantee base to around 1,200 grantees and distributing up to in total 3.1 million tokens to the new Prism members.

Mina is at the beginning of a new chapter after its mainnet launch a few weeks ago, and it will depend heavily on its members to further grow and lead the community. Mina’s Genesis Founding Members had a pivotal role in launching the mainnet as its first block producers. Together with the new Prism Contributing Members, they will continue to be the pillars of the world’s lightest blockchain.

Who is eligible to become Prism Contributing Members?

Members who are devoted to the project, built alongside the core team when the project was still in its early stages, and made significant contributions in the last years but did not receive a grant are eligible to become PCMs. Since Mina’s testnet beta launched 1.5 years ago, members have been supporting the project and competing with other participants on leaderboards. They earned points on the leaderboard for testing the protocol, creating content, organizing events, helping out other members, answering questions in the community, building tooling, and making other contributions that helped the project get to where it is today. The top 10% of non-grant recipients on the all-time testnet leaderboard and the top 5% (also of the non-grant recipients) on the community leaderboard are eligible to apply for the Prism token grants. Around 600 members are eligible to become PCMs, and they will receive the opportunity to convert their leaderboard points into minas on a 3:1 conversion rate. Example: If a member has 30,000 points on the leaderboard, belongs to the top 5%, and is not receiving any other grant, they will be eligible to apply for a Prism token grant of 10,000 tokens.

Additionally, the Top 25 participants on the community leaderboard will also be invited as a Prism Contributing Member with the 20,000-tokens grant they are eligible for. Eligible members will receive an email with onboarding instructions within the next few weeks. The Mina Foundation is excited to widen the token distribution to these high-value contributors in the community, and it will be distributing up to in total 3.1 million tokens to the new PCMs.

A list of all eligible members can be found hereNote: the leaderboards are final, and no adjustments will be made to them.

A big congrats to these members who have been supporting the project for a long time. We’re excited to continue building Mina’s community and the protocol with all our members.

How can members participate in Mina’s community?

Mina’s community is open, curious, and respectful. You can join Mina’s Telegram channel here or join the community on Discord. Our members are friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Mina’s mainnet only launched a few weeks ago, and we’re just at the beginning of Mina’s journey. We need builders, creators, organizers, leaders, mentors, and many others. There is a place for everyone who wants to contribute to the world’s lightest blockchain that is truly powered by participants.

*Leaderboard Points (abbreviated ‘pts’) are designed solely to track contributions to the Mina Community and Leaderboard Points have no cash or other monetary value. Leaderboard Points are not transferable and are not redeemable or exchangeable for any cryptocurrency or digital assets outside of the Prism grant program. We may at any time amend or eliminate Leaderboard Points.

About Mina Protocol

Mina is the world’s lightest blockchain, powered by participants. Rather than apply brute computing force, Mina uses advanced cryptography and recursive zk-SNARKs to design an entire blockchain that is about 22kb, the size of a couple of tweets. It is the first layer-1 to enable efficient implementation and easy programmability of zero knowledge smart contracts (zkApps). With its unique privacy features and ability to connect to any website, Mina is building a private gateway between the real world and crypto—and the secure, democratic future we all deserve.
